Statement of Principles
MDC sportswear GmbH is an internationally operating, family-run company based in Germany. Sportswear from MDC is characterized by exclusive design, functionality and luxurious comfort. The entire collection, including the fabrics used, is manufactured in Western Europe in accordance with the high ecological and social EU standards. As a result, we secure well-paid jobs, ensure short transport routes and minimize the CO² emissions associated with transport.
We attach great importance to the transparency of our value chain. In addition to stitching in the country of origin determined by the clothing, the countries of origin of the fabrics used are published for each of our products and can be viewed online at any time.
Our company faces up to the challenges of the market by constantly weighing up the economic, social and ecological impact of our actions. The sustainability of our business activities with regard to environmental protection and human rights is our top priority, which we maintain and consistently develop further together with our suppliers. One of our goals is to increase the use of renewable energy and components made from recycled raw materials.
The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights of the United Nations (UNGP) form the binding framework for our company. We are aware of our responsibility with regard to the quality of our products, the health and safety of our employees and environmental protection. We are committed to the prevention, mitigation and remediation of adverse impacts on human rights and the environment and are committed to ethical business and purchasing practices. We guarantee social and environmental EU standards by manufacturing our clothing exclusively in Portugal and using fabrics, synthetic down and linings produced in the EU or Switzerland.
Our business activities are in line with international human rights conventions and the ILO core labor standards. We act in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Our guiding principle is to treat our employees and partners in a trusting and friendly manner.
We guarantee our vertically integrated Portuguese production plants stable prices through long-term supply contracts, which can be increased if necessary due to unforeseeable factors on the part of the plants. The working hours and wages of the seamstresses, fair pay and time limits on overtime as well as compliance with due diligence obligations are ensured through regular audits.
